Eloise was welcomed into our family on 19 August 2019, weighing a tiny 6lb 1oz. Adored by her big brother Oliver, ‘Weese’ as he called her, had a smile that could light up a room and make our hearts sing. On 11 November 2019, 85 days after her birth, our baby Eloise died suddenly in her sleep at only 12 weeks of age. On that day, our family was changed forever.

Loss, isolation, devastation and so many questions followed …

But, throughout this painful time, we were not alone. We were fortunate to have the support of Karl and Alex Waddell, Founders of River’s Gift.

In gratitude for their tireless dedication to raising funds for SIDS research and for their kind support services, my husband Jared and I have decided that we want Eloise’s memory to live on by supporting River’s Gift as much as they have supported us.

River’s Gift evolved from a simple pledge following the death of their son River to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) in November 2011. This pledge was to Stamp Out SIDS and ensure that no other parent would endure the pain and suffering of the unexpected and unexplained loss of their precious child. River’s Gift is Australia’s solely SIDS focused charity, dedicated to funding world leading scientific research, providing safe sleep education and raising awareness of this devastating syndrome.

Meet our sweet little girl Eloise — lost to SIDS at 12 weeks of age.
